Jason Michael Zimmerman is an American visual effects (VFX) artist, who has served as VFX supervisor for Star Trek: Discovery, all Star Trek: Short Treks, and lead VFX supervisor and supervising producer for Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

In these positions Zimmerman is, along with his former Pixomondo colleague Ante Dekovic, fulfilling the exact same role for Kurtzman-era Star Trek as illustrious predecessors Dan Curry and Ronald B. Moore had respectively fulfilled for Berman-era Star Trek.

Zimmerman's name was referenced on the dedication plaques of the USS Shenzhou, USS Discovery, USS Enterprise (as it appeared in "Such Sweet Sorrow"), USS Stargazer (as it appeared in PIC: "The Star Gazer", "Farewell") as well as a mirror counterpart on the plaque of the ISS Discovery.

He was nominated for an Emmy in 2019 for Outstanding Visual Effects for his work on "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2", [1] and in 2021 for his work on DIS: "Su'Kal", the latter one he won. [2] This was accompanied by two similar 2018 and 2021 VES Award nominations for DIS: "The Vulcan Hello", "Su'Kal". All these he shared with Dekovic, among others.

He made guest appearances on segments of The Ready Room in "Absolute Candor" and "Die Trying".

Zimmerman became promoted to supervising producer for Picard's second season, besides continuing to serve as lead/senior VFX supervisor of Kurtzman-era Star Trek.
