A jar was a type of container that was used to store food such as pickles, peanut butter, jelly and other types.
Generally jars were made of glass, plastic or other materials.
In 1996, Chakotay and B'Elanna Torres was kidnapped by some self-proclaimed freedom fighters and brought to their cellar, where they had a number of jars stored down there. (VOY: "Future's End, Part II")
