James Raymond Holt (born 5 March 1983; age 41) is a visual effects artist / digital compositor who was involved in the remastered Original Series which began in 2006 and continued for almost two years. As part of the CBS Digital team, he appeared as a Starfleet extra in an office window in the new matte painting in the episode "The Menagerie, Part I". He was the lead shake artist on this project.

Still at CBSD, Holt worked on the TNG remastering effort as a flame artist.

Holt was born in Los Angeles, California. As member of the CBS Digital team he has worked on films such as the comedy Dead Husbands (1998), Category 6: Day of Destruction(2004), Category 7: The End of the World(2005, both alongside Niel Wray and Nicki Kreitzman), Locusts (2005, with Natalija Nogulich), Stephen King's Desperation (2006, starring Steven Weber, Matt Frewer, and Ron Perlman), and The Last Sin Eater (2007, with Louise Fletcher and Valerie Wildman).

His work has been part of the television series 24, (2005-2006), Jericho (2006), Ugly Betty (2007, starring Tony Plana and Vanessa Williams), Numbers (2007), Modern Family (2010-2011) and Pushing Daisies (2007), for which his team was nominated in 2008 in the category Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program for an Visual Effects Society Award.

Holt was also featured as background extra in Category 6 (as a gateway arch tourist) and Category 7 (as an Eiffel Tower tourist).
