Ivan Ketoul was an Illyrian boy who lived during the early 23rd century. He resided with his family in a Federation colony in the Vaultera Nebula.
Ivan attended school with his cousin, Neera Ketoul, and her best friend Una Chin-Riley. Due to Federation laws against genetic engineering, he was forced to hide the fact that he had been modified. However, when he was ten years old, his glowing immune system was seen by another, and the word "augment" was found written on his door. Ivan and his parents were subsequently arrested in their home, despite the attempts of some to defend them. This incident led to an escalation of anti-Illyrian persecution in the community, and ultimately its segregation into Illyrian and non-Illyrian settlements. (SNW: "Ad Astra per Aspera")
