"You got a family?"
"No."
"You should. It's the most important thing. I send them everything. I pay my fare to Raimus, the rest goes straight to my wife."

A family man was a term for a male dedicated to the well-being of their spouse and children.

In 2364, Captain Jean-Luc Picard tasked First Officer William T. Riker with helping him relate to the children on board the USS Enterprise-D, as he did not consider himself to be a family man. (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")

In 2367, Geordi La Forge described Paul Hickman as a family man with two kids, and doubted he would steal a shuttle and desert Starfleet. (TNG: "Identity Crisis")

In 2373, B'Elanna Torres was surprised to learn that The Doctor was enjoying being a husband and father in a holoprogram he had designed, saying she never thought of him as a family man. (VOY: "Real Life")
