Classified as M-class, Draygo IV was the uninhabited fourth planet in its star system. The planet was located 3.2 light years away from Cardassian space in the Cardassian sector of the Alpha Quadrant.

Planetary data[]

This planet, with a rotation of 27.82 hours and two moons, had an unusually large temperate zone. The planet had a water mass of 69.27 TLM and a land mass of 20.73 TLM. Salt water was 73.38 of TWM, while fresh water was 24.64 of TWM. The polar region was 33.57 square kilometers.

The planet's climate was 18-38 degrees. It was home to evolving sealife and reptiles. The vegetation was carnivorous, however, it was edible. Desert was 38.97 of TLM, while forest was 33.28 of TLM. Mountains covered 1,476 square kilometers. The habitable sector was 18.63 TLM. The planet had a humidity factor.

History[]

The planet was considered by Dr. Beverly Crusher and Commander Data as a possible home for the Boraalans following Dr. Nikolai Rozhenko's unauthorized transport of the group aboard the USS Enterprise-D. It was closest to the climate of Boraal II, their former home; however, the sector in which the planet was located in was the site of constant border disputes. This fact disqualified the planet from consideration as the new home of the Boraalans. Ultimately, Vacca VI was chosen instead. (TNG: "Homeward")

Background information[]

This planet's quadrant of origin is inferred based on the position of the Cardassian Union as seen in the star chart appearing in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".

According to the script, the pronunciation for Draygo was "DRAY-go". [1]

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 47) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the primary of the Draygo system was a G-class star. In the late 24th century, this was an independent system.

The Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 219 located Draygo IV in Federation space.

The graphic "Class M Planet Search – 1126", with information on this planet and Vacca VI, was put up for auction in 2018. Only the lower portion of the graphic actually made it into the episode. [2]
