This Biden Coverage is Insane

Those few swing district congresspeople should have waited before taking the news media’s bait and publicly calling for our president and nominee, the only person to have a 100% record of having beaten Trump, to step down.

I’m not claiming to know for sure whether he take their advice, but with all the disappointment in the debate, a couple weeks out it’s still far from clear that any voters are switching back from him to Trump. This constant talk about calling for a sitting president and presumptive nominee to quit the race even though he’s the only person in the world who beat this same opponent last time does not appear, by any stretch of the imagination, to be driven by voter preference.

A multi-university research project called Chip 50 has measured exactly what these congresspeople claim to know: whether voters switched their preferences to Trump after the debate. This is the most important paragraph from their findings: “Figure 1 shows the extent to which respondents either stuck with their initial preference or changed their minds after the debate. Each row represents a cohort who shared a preference in May 2024, while the columns represent the percentage of those cohorts who currently prefer each candidate. For
