During the First Presidential Debate 2024 with President Joe Biden, candidate Donald Trump told viewers:

Democrats support abortion “until birth” and even “after birth” and that “everybody” wanted to overturn Roe v Wade.

Democrats have always been more in favor of the Roe v Wade decision that made abortion legal. Some Republicans have always been against that decision. Lump them together, and the resulting statistic is: Thrty-four percent of Americans approve of a woman’s right to choose when and if to have a baby and say it should be easier to get an abortion. Twenty-seven percent say women should be forced to give birth and that abortions should be harder to get.

Trump may have been mistaken about how many of us support access to abortion. Perhaps he listens to the more to the seventy-two percent of his followers who take his lead on this. Maybe he just doesn’t hear the remaining conservative Republicans or the rest of us. But Trump is running for president and should have some at least approximately correct statistics in his head. So, I’m comfortable calling his statement that “everybody” wants to overturn Roe v Wade a lie.

About Democrats supporting access to abortion until birth, In the first place, this hardly…
