The September 12, 2017 announcement and November 3, 2017 release of the iPhone X marked a major advancement in Apple’s smartphone design and feature set. Commemorating the tenth anniversary of the iPhone, it brought about a number of noteworthy modifications, including the elimination of the home button to make room for a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display that is edge-to-edge. With the introduction of Face ID, a facial recognition system that uses a TrueDepth camera system in a “notch” to enable Animojis, has replaced Touch ID for authentication. With its first-ever dedicated Neural Engine for improved machine learning capabilities, the A11 Bionic chip, which drove the iPhone X, also enabled wireless charging for the first time. Its glass back and stainless steel frame design represented a return to a more upscale look.
