The Launch Event

Xiaomi held a launch event today where it unveiled its latest products, including the Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone and two new tablets - the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro.

Design and Display

 

The new tablets feature a fresh new design inspired by the Xiaomi 13 series phones. Both tablets come with an 11-inch IPS LCD display with an 1800 x 2880 px resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Pro model has a snappier 144Hz refresh rate, while the vanilla retains the 120Hz from the Pad 5 series.

 

Chipset and Software

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is equipped with last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, while the Pad 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. Both tablets run on MIUI Pad 14 based on Android 13.

Battery and Charging

 

The Pad 6 Pro features an 8,600 mAh battery with 67W charging, while the Pad 6 packs a larger 8,840 mAh cell but with slower 33W charging.

 

Camera and Audio

The Pad 6 Pro boasts a 50MP main camera on the back and a new 20MP front-facing sensor with auto-tracking for video calls. The Pad 6, on the other hand, has a 13MP rear sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera. Both tablets come with quad-speaker setups with Dolby Atmos.

Accessories

 

Xiaomi also announced a new keyboard case and a second-generation smart pen accessory with lower input latency, longer battery life, and improved wear resistance on the pen tip.

 

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Pad 6 starts at CNY 1,999 ($291 converted) for the 6/128GB model. The 8/128GB version costs CNY 2,099 ($305 converted), while the 8/256GB model is priced at CNY 2,399 ($349 converted). The Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro starts at CNY 2,699 ($392 converted) for the base 8/256GB model, with the 8/256GB (CNY 2,699) and 12/256GB (CNY 2,999) versions also available. The top-of-the-line 12/512GB model costs CNY 3,299 ($480 converted). Both tablets are available for pre-order in China, with open sales beginning on April 21.

Worth considering?

Xiaomi's new tablets bring a lot of upgrades to the table, including new chipsets, improved displays, and fresh designs. The new accessories and camera upgrades are also a welcome addition. Although the international pricing and availability have not been detailed, the new tablets are sure to excite Xiaomi fans worldwide.
