Megan Markle had a fallout with her father Thomas Markle following his paparazzi scandal six years ago, and the two haven’t met since. Thomas, 80, failed to walk the Duchess of Sussex at her wedding as he did not attend the event in 2018.

In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Megan’s dad reflected on how what happened six years ago not only tarnished their relationship but also resulted in developing feelings of resentment for each other. “I’ve had a good life and I am proud of what I’ve accomplished, but everything has been overshadowed by what has happened in the last six years,” said Thomas.

The 80-year-old suggested he is not the one to look forward to birthdays but the only person he wants to hear from on that day is Megan, who refuses to be in touch with him. Thomas blames Megan and Harry for disregarding the Royal Family and treating the King badly. “When you look at what Harry and Meghan have done since, like accusing the Royal Family of racism, it’s far worse than anything I’ve done. I don’t want pity and I don’t want this episode to define my life. I don’t want to be a footnote in history,” he said.

Megan’s father wants to see his grandchildren Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. Both the Royal kids have not met Thomas in their lifetime. He noted, “The decisions Meghan and Harry have made will affect their kids for the rest of their lives. I find myself wondering how Archie and Lilibet will feel in a few years time when they realize all the things they have missed out on.”

Additionally, the elderly also directed his resentment towards Prince Harry, who he claims did not ask permission to marry his daughter.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal family in 2020.
