$\begingroup$ It was recently realized that the theorem that there is no complex structure on the 6-sphere that is orthogonal with respect to the standard metric was actually proved much earlier than in Lebrun's paper (which dates from the 1980s). The earliest proof I know is in a 1953 paper by André Blanchard: Recherche de structures analytiques complexes sur certaines variétés. C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, t. 236 (1953), 657–659.
