FACT: Everyone hates getting robbed.
But what are you doing to prevent it from happening to you and your family? If you aren't one of the 35 million Americans who has a home security system set-up, chances are, you aren't doing enough.
We know that some of the most popular home security companies require you to pay monthly fees and installation service charges that can be just as expensive as they are off-putting.
Which is why we were so excited to learn about this Kickstarter campaign that's trying to change all that.

With more than $1 million raised already, EverCam is a wire-free security camera that eliminates the need to drill holes or use power cords and wall outlets. That way, you can install it practically anywhere — on virtually any flat or metallic surface. An included magnetic mount allows for easy relocation and angle adjusting. If you feel better with a more secure cam, it also has a Screw Mount you can install for added stability.
The company behind EverCam is Eufy, the makers of other smart products like robot vacuums, smart plugs, lightbulbs, and more. They say that long battery life was the their top priority and with 365 days of running power on one charge, this camera seems almost too good to be true. (Like all Kickstarter prototypes, we'll see it when be believe it — but Eufy has a great track record and knows what they're doing.)
The batteries are powered by Anker, a leader in charging technology, and use a low frequency transmission signal to stay connected on standby mode and saving energy by up to 70 percent.
Another priority for this camera's design was facial recognition. With some of those other security camera companies, birds, stray animals, and falling branches have been known to trigger false alarms. To avoid this, EverCam was built with face recognition technology, applying a 3-step scanning and filtering process before alerting you of unwelcome visitors.

You can register your friends and family members as trusted faces, then when someone approaches your home, the camera can tell if that person is someone you can trust to reduce the number of alerts you get.
The folks at Eufy Security, who are the owners of this Kickstart campaign, built the camera with around-the-clock Full HD surveillance so it records sharp video during the daytime, and crisp Night Vision footage when the sun goes down. Plus, there's a 140-degree wide-angle lens that pretty much provides a panoramic view to help eliminate missed spots.

Apparently, it will also be able to withstand scorching summer temperatures up to 122 degrees and winter freezing up to negative 4 degrees. So whether it's raining, snowing, or some nasty slush in-between, this camera has you back.
Watch previous recordings from your smartphone with the accompanying app, or stream footage from multiple EverCam units at once in real-time. The camera body houses a built-in microphone and speaker so you can speak directly with whoever shows up at your door by using the app —whether you're home or not.
Back the campaign for as low as $1 to let the company know you like the idea. For $219 or more, you can have an EverCam for more than $100 off. Shipping starts in September 2018.
