Ditch takeout and save $80 on your first 4 Blue Apron boxes

TL;DR: Now through Sept. 11, Blue Apron is offering new customers a whopping $80 off their first four boxes.

Tired of takeout? At this point, who isn’t? You can be gaga about your local taco and ramen spots, but after six months, it’s probably getting hard to tell the banh mi from the torta. While it’s definitely important to support our neighborhood restaurants right now, there’s such a thing as too much delivery.

Let’s spice things up

Now through Sept. 11, Blue Apron is offering new customers a whopping $80 off their first four boxes. If you think pre-chopped, pre-measured, chef-designed meal kits delivered to your doorstep are only for foodies and the culinarily inclined, think again. Even if you can barely boil an egg, Blue Apron makes it a snap to cook fancy dishes you thought were only available via delivery app. Sustainably sourced za’atar tilapia, sesame-ponzu tofu, and hot honey crispy chicken, all ready to be thrown together and ravaged? Yes, please.

Here’s how it works

First, go to the Blue Apron site and choose either a two-serving or four-serving plan. If you have kiddos — or if you and the roomies are home 24/7 these days — a four-serving plan is a good option.

Next, pick how many recipes (meal kits) you want delivered each week and what you want from their ever-changing menu. Whether you’re a carnivore, vegetarian, carb-conscious, or all of the above, you won’t be disappointed. And don’t stress too much over your recipe selections. You can change them whenever you want.

For an idea of how much money you can save with Blue Apron versus takeout, a two-serving plan with three recipes is $39.94 a week (normally $59.94) for the first four weeks. A four-person plan with three recipes is $75.88 per week (normally $95.88) for the first four weeks. Even after Blue Apron’s four-week deal is over, you’ll be spending under $10 for each meal.

In short, Blue Apron is cheaper than hitting up your food app every night. And unlike takeout, your homemade pad Thai noodles will still be all wiggly and steamy when they hit your mouth.
