'Wheel of Fortune' contestants repeatedly stumble with a wildly simple answer

Move over "feather in your cap."
By Tim Marcin  on

It happened again. Just weeks after a truly mind-boggling missolve incident, well, another head scratcher took place on a new episode of Wheel of Fortune that aired Wednesday.

Long story short, a number of contestants completely brain-farted on the the phrase "renting a pedal boat." I mean really messed it up. One contestant — with the p, d, and a in "pedal" already revealed — tried to solve with "renting a paddle boat," which was a grammatically impossible answer. The next contestant, Seann, got every letter in the answer except for the L in "renting a pedal boat." He guessed "renting a paddle boat," which, again, was impossible and already revealed to be wrong.

From there, it only got worse. Someone guessed an "m." Another guessed a "w." Eventually Seann redeemed himself and got it right. Here's the video evidence.

It's tough to say if the "renting a pedal boat" debacle is worse than the viral "another feather in your cap" disaster earlier this month. But I did appreciate one part of the "pedal boat" incident that was a bit different. The clue was "What are your doing?" which is exactly what I wanted to yell at my screen.
