If you have no idea what to put on your dating app profile, fear not — Hinge provides many prompts to get you started. No more empty bios here; with prompts, you can easily share more of your personality in your profile.

Best Hinge prompts

Now, for the first time since 2020, Hinge reveals the top 25 prompts, based on how frequently they lead to a conversation:

  1. The way to win me over is

  2. My simple pleasures

  3. I go crazy for

  4. Together, we could

  5. My most irrational fear

  6. We'll get along if

  7. I'm looking for

  8. This year, I really want to

  9. Typical Sunday

  10. A life goal of mine

  11. My greatest strength

  12. Dating me is like

  13. I'm convinced that

  14. I want someone who

  15. Unusual skills

  16. The key to my heart is

  17. First round is on me if

  18. What if I told you that

  19. I'm weirdly attracted to

  20. My Love Language is

  21. All I ask is that you

  22. I'll fall for you if

  23. I won't shut up about

  24. The one thing you should know about me is

  25. I bet you can't

Two categories of prompts are more successful: those that help you find what you're looking for, and those that help you express yourself.

In terms of the former, Hinge's director of relationship science Logan Ury points to hardballing, or being clear about what you're looking for in a relationship up front. This trend has occurred since the pandemic, when — due to existential anxiety — people realized they can't wait around for what they want.

"This isn't about being needy," Ury noted. "It's about saving time by making sure you are on the same page as the people you're dating."

Prompts that encourage users to express themselves are an opportunity to be quirky or silly, or share your values and get vulnerable, Ury said. "These Prompts help you give someone a sense of what it would be like to date you, by painting a picture of who you are and what brings you joy," she explained. "Telling someone your specific quirks or pleasures can help create a vivid image of who you are and help them picture what a relationship with you would be like."

Successful prompt responses have a mix of humor and vulnerability, according to Ury, so don't be afraid to be yourself. If you want to use the top prompt — "the way to win me over" — she advises you to dig deep and think of something that's original and unique to you. "Stop talking about your love for The Office and start telling us about your secret hobby as a herbal tea connoisseur," she commented.

Don't write one-word answers, either. Ury advises to answer prompts in a way that encourages more in-depth conversation. And if you're having trouble thinking of what to write, try talking it out with Voice Prompts.

"One of my key tips to designing a great dating app profile is to think through three things you want to express about yourself and use your photos and prompts to get those messages across," Ury said. "Prompts like these are a great way to share those three things."
