LONDON -- Months after Apple Pay first landed in the UK, Barclays has finally caught up with the rest of the British banking pack.

Barclays and Barclaycard customers can use the service with their iPhones and Apple Watches at pay points that accept it from Tuesday across the UK.

Natwest, Nationwide, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster customers have been able to use Apple Pay since its launch in July, while HSBC, First Direct and Lloyds joined later.

"With Barclaycard and Barclays bringing Apple Pay to our customers, we can now offer the widest choice of ways to make and take payments in a way that’s most convenient for them,” Amer Sajed, Interim CEO of Barclaycard, said in a statement about the launch.

In the UK, Apple Pay is accepted by a variety of businesses, from high street shops to cafes and supermarkets, as well as on the London Underground.
