It's Donald Trump's birthday, and by the looks of the trending hashtags, Twitter users are torn.

To troll the president on his big day thousands of people are tweeting #JohnMcCainDay, because, as everyone probably know, Trump was not a fan of the late Arizona senator. With this in mind, Andy Lassner, the executive producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, kicked off the hashtag.

Lassner suggested that his followers join him in honoring an "American hero," explaining, "I'm sure this would mean a lot to a patriot like Donald Trump."

Over the years Trump has made his dislike for McCain very clear. Part of their feud stemmed from a disagreement on immigration policy, but back in 2015 Trump came under fire for saying McCain, a naval aviator who fought in the Vietnam War and was held as a prisoner of war in Hanoi for more than five years, "was a war hero because he was captured." Trump went on to explain, "I like people who weren’t captured."

Before McCain died in 2018, it was reported that he didn't want Trump to attend his funeral. And recently, reports that the White House ordered Navy and Air Force officers to keep the USS John S. McCain "out of sight" during Trump's visit to Japan circulated. So yeah, the two had a complex relationship and this hashtag was clearly designed to irk Trump on his birthday.

Many celebrated McCain's service to the country using the hashtag, and some even brought up the fact that Trump deferred the draft during the Vietnam war because of his alleged bone spurs.

To be fair, "Happy Birthday Mr. President" is also trending, but a lot of the tweets are trolling Trump with photos of former president Barack Obama.

Have a good one, Trump!
