linkedin-logoLinkedIn announced they have added the two-factor authentication option for users to help protect their accounts on the popular business-focused social network.

LinkedIn said they have added an “optional feature that adds another layer of security to your LinkedIn sign-in: two-step verification.” How does it work?

(1) Go to “Privacy & Settings” under your account
(2) Select the Account tab and “Manage security settings” option
(3) Click “Turn On Two-step verification”
(4) Register and verify your mobile phone number

Then, when you login, LinkedIn will send you an SMS message to your mobile phone, and you will have to enter in that code, as well.

Just last week, Twitter added two factor sign in to their system and sites such as Google, Facebook, WordPress, Dropbox, Amazon and many others use two factor authentication. There are even many corporations and businesses that deploy two-factor sign in requirements for enhanced security.
