New Features For Researchers

Researcher tools and user interface improvements

The Lumen team is pleased to announce that we have added two new features that we hope will be of great use to our researcher community.

First, Lumen’s search function now allows for the possibility of exact match string searching.

Previously a search for “my images have been copied”would have produced results that contained any or all of those five words, sorted by relevance. This meant that a notice that actually contained that phrase would most likely be at the top of search results, but that the results would also contain notices with those words in any order, field or position.

Now, by enclosing search strings in quotation marks or by checking the box beneath the search bar
the search will return only results containing those words in that order, making targeted searches, such as those for notices linked by common cut-and-paste language, much more precise.

Second, Lumen now offers users logged in with researcher credentials to choose to “watch” a notice.

When a notice is added to a researcher watch list, that researcher will receive an email if that notice has new documents added to it, such as follow-up court orders.
