🌳🌿   We recently toured Narok County where I&M Foundation has worked alongside grassroots organisations to transform communities under our Environmental Conservation and Economic Empowerment pillars. First, we made a stop at Lucy Sintoyia’s farm, where an inspiring story of dedication to tree growing is unfolding.   Lucy was the first to join our tree planting programme in partnership with Kenya Community Development Foundation and implemented by Nguzo Africa. This collaboration started about four years ago.   Our community-based forum encourages tree growing as a strategic ecosystem restoration initiative to combat climate change. For the Maa communities, whose land is predominantly Savannah grassland, this was a novel concept.   Lucy took on the challenge and planted 1,200 indigenous trees on one acre of her land. Despite having only one water point and a low water table, she achieved a very high success rate. With devastation sweeping across Kenya from floods in recent months, many residents of informal settlements faced tragic losses of lives, widespread displacement, loss of homes and livelihoods.   We partnered with the Jonathan Jackson Foundation to offer relief to the affected families, providing food hampers and donations worth KES 3.2 million to support this initiative, aiming to assist 1,000 homes. 500 beneficiaries were reached in Phase 1, with plans to reach an additional 500 more in coming months in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross.   We remain committed to supporting and aiding our communities in times of need.   #EnablingGiving #IMFoundation #LearningGrowingThriving #IMGiving #IMCares
