Issue/Introduction

VMware Workstation adds a new shortcut feature. It improves the usability by allowing the user to navigate to a virtual machine with one single click from the desktop or from a preferred location.


Environment

VMware Workstation Pro 15.x (Windows)
VMware Workstation Pro 16.x (Windows)

Resolution

To create a shortcut to the virtual machine:
  1. Launch VMware Workstation.
  2. In the virtual machine library tree (from Workstation menu bar, click on Show or Hide the Library button), or from the folder created in Library, drag the virtual machine to the Desktop or to a preferred location.
  3. This creates a new shortcut to the virtual machine with the specified name.
  4. Double click the shortcut to automatically start the VMware Workstation application and then, power on the virtual machine.
