YKK AP's Kurobe Ekko Plant Manufatruing wanted to use data to improve work efficiency and establish autonomous improvement activities in response to the oncoming manpower shortage. Using i-BELT's manufacturing management service, a system was introduced to visualize equipment operating status and parts count information in real time in order to establish an improvement loop. This enabled workers to work on the equipment at the optimum time without patrolling action. After the system was introduced, workshops were held to enable the customer to carry out improvement activities by themselves, and as a result, the number of units per worker was improved from four to six. Watch the interview video with YKK AP, a company that co-created the project.

SHIMADZU(SUZHOU) Instruments Manufacturing, a Chinese group company of Shimadzu Corporation, a manufacturer of measuring instruments, wanted to improve productivity by shortening lead times without increasing manpower. IE (industrial engineering) education using OMRON's production site improvement philosophy and knowledge was provided, and improvements were initiated based on a common understanding between the two companies. At each plant, efforts were made to semi-automate the inspection process, which had been a bottleneck, and to improve the awareness of workers by holding workshops on the PDCA cycle using the data. As a result, the two existing plants each reduced lead times by five days and improved productivity by 12.5%.

ULVAC, a manufacturer of production equipment for the semiconductor industry, was aiming to reduce the energy consumption of its production equipment while balancing productivity and energy conservation, in response to environmental issues and a shortage of skilled engineers. Using i-BELT's energy management service, the company analyzed data on equipment operating status and electricity consumption, and introduced an "energy saving mode" in which vacuum pumps are turned off at times that do not affect productivity, leading to a 23% reduction in electricity consumption for the entire equipment.
