I am grateful to have had the mentorship and opportunities that allowed me to earn the promotion of Sr. CTA. To summarize the role of a CTA at any level is a bit challenging as it varies study-to-study and day-to-day. I provide support to the project teams that I am assigned to as well as liaise with sites, vendors, and sponsors. Although my role is 100% remote, I never feel like I am isolated or stranded on an island alone. 𝐐: 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟑 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. I have been in healthcare for over 20 years with 7-1/2 of those years being in Clinical Research. I started my research journey as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the site level for 3 years. Once the pandemic hit, I decided to explore other opportunities within the industry and shifted to the sponsor/CRO side working in Clinical Operations. 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐓𝐀𝐬? 𝐀: My advice to an aspiring CTA is to start off by networking on LinkedIn with anyone in the industry and follow various CROs, sponsors, research sites, etc. Anything related to the industry! There is a lot of “pivoting” that happens in a workday, so, my overall advice is to ensure that you are organized and care about the details, as that is a large part of this role.
