ACCJ leaders were pleased to meet with Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez yesterday to discuss strengthening key strategic priorities, including semiconductors, supply chains, and renewable energy.

ACCJ President Victor Osumi and Executive Director Laura Younger met with Mr. Takeshi Niinami, the Chairperson of KEIZAI DOYUKAI Japan Association of Corporate Executives and Representative Director, President, and CEO of Suntory Holdings Limited, on July 10. We sincerely thank Mr. Niinami for the engaging discussion on the outlook of U.S.–Japan relations. The ACCJ is also grateful to Keizai Doyukai for their continued support and we look forward to further strengthening our partnership. Japan is the only G7 member that has not legalized same-sex unions, even though Japanese society is already moving toward acceptance. The ACCJ Human Resource Management Committee has updated its landmark viewpoint calling for Japan to extend the right to marry to LGBTQ+ couples. Doing so, would remove limitations facing companies doing business in Japan in recruiting and retaining talent and in treating the full diversity of their workforce equitably.
