The coastal area of Norway is particularly rainy: leaving CLT exposed during the construction process is challenging for both timber itself and fastenings, even in summer. For Bjerkreim helsesenter in Vikeså Woodcon AS is working on the construction of the health centre, which features numerous CLT walls for room modulation. Thanks to SLOT, the connector for structural panels that allows very high stiff joints, the reassembly of large monolithic surfaces was quicker and easier, also reducing the number of fastenings, while with DEFENCE ADHESIVE, CLT was protected from rain and moisture. Engineered to be disassembled and reassembled, designed for perfect acoustics, the pavilion showcased at the London Festival of Architecture 2024 is the world's first exposed eucalyptus CLT structure. Supporting others' works, facing fire, becoming legendary: three things that our HBS does very well, and that made it the perfect screw to rebuild the Dragon of Vaia. The land art work by the artist Martalar, which stands guard over the relationship between humans and nature in Lavarone, Italy, had been set on fire in 2023 in a cowardly act of vandalism. Today, thanks to the contribution of Rothoblaas and 1,600 other supporters, it has risen from its ashes as an imposing custodian of memory and stories, with its 6 tonnes of charred wood, 16 metres in length and 7 metres in height. A connection that will last forever. Fabulous landscape, lush nature, sea: this Glulam residence is located in a prime location on the coast of Goa, India but when it come to construction challenges, tropical climate and strong winds can severely test the structure. With Rothoblaas solutions, however, Artius Interior Products (P) Ltd. has managed to combine efficiency, durability and aesthetics with a weather-proof design. The corrosion resistance of the metal elements used in timber construction is influenced by many factors: exposure, humidity level, pollution, distance from the sea, but also timber pH and service class.
