Before Sharvari Her Alpha Co-Star Alia Bhatt Was Approached For Munjya? Here's What Director Said

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are ready to share the screen space in Yash Raj Films' spy universe movie Alpha. However the two also have another movie in common. Sharvari was recently seen in horror comedy Munjya but reports claimed that the original choice for the role was Alia Bhatt and even Shraddha Kapoor. For the unversed, Munjya is part of the horror comedy universe by Maddock films which also includes Stree and Bhediya.

Shraddha Kapoor is already seen in Stree but not much about her character has been revealed, and if the makers had followed through, this could have been the back story of her character everyone has been waiting for. However, the film ended up with Sharvari and has become one of the most loved films of the year.

While recently talking to Indian Express the director was asked about the claim of casting Alia Bhatt and he admitted that the original script of the film followed a leading actress and not the role of Abhay Verma. He told the portal, "Yogesh Chandekar, the writer of the film, had seen this film as a female protagonist film where the conflict was that she was in love with her best friend who was a teenager. It was that angle that was being brought in the narrative."

He went on to add that after he came on board the story was changed. He added, "I saw the film about these two guys who are in a position in life, in the same space where they were in love with an older girl. The hero respected and looked at her in a very sensitive manner. He believed in consent, rather than this guy who was obsessed and crazy about this girl he was in love with and went to the extent of getting her killed."

While the director did not confirm who was approached for the role, he revealed that the film could have been completely different if the originally reported casting had come true.
