On July 3, 2024, we conducted a training to understand the usage of the Bomb Calorimeter in our newly set up AFR Lab at Kalburgi plant.   A bomb calorimeter is an instrument used to determine the heat emitted from a given quantity of sample combustion and to calculate the HHV (High Heating Value) of that fuel.   The session saw active participation from 16 Quality and AFR Team attendees, who demonstrated great enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. The training was comprehensive, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of the Bomb Calorimeter, ensuring that all participants were well-equipped to utilize this instrument effectively in their respective roles.   Thanks to the trainer from Leco and all participants for their dedication and active engagement. #learninganddevelopment #vicatindia

Limited organized a blood donation camp at the Occupational Health Center of the Kalburgi Plant as a community initiative. This effort was conceived by our CEO, Vicat India, and inaugurated by the Plant Head of the Kalburgi Plant. Collaborating with Basaveshwar Teaching & General Hospital's Blood Bank, the event saw enthusiastic participation from employees, contract staff, and DAV teachers, all contributing to this life-saving cause. 57 donors generously donated blood, aiding patients with conditions like thalassemia and cancer. The entire process was overseen by a team of expert doctors and technicians to ensure smooth and safe collection. Donors received refreshments and appreciation certificates as a token of gratitude for their invaluable contributions. We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the first phase of our training program on the new lab equipment in our recently established 𝑨𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒂𝒘 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒔 (𝑨𝑭𝑹) 𝒍𝒂𝒃 𝒂𝒕 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒊 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕. The training sessions commenced on 23rd May 2024 and concluded on 30th May 2024, with enthusiastic participation from over 20 employees from the Quality Control and AFR departments. During this training program, our team was introduced to the following advanced laboratory instruments: 890 𝑇𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑜 𝐾𝐹 𝐻𝑖𝑔ℎ 𝐸𝑛𝑑 𝑇𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 860 𝐾𝐹 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑜𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑝 & 𝐴𝑢𝑡𝑜 𝑇𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟- 888 𝑇𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑜 (𝑀𝑒𝑡𝑟𝑜ℎ𝑚 𝐼𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑎): Participants learned to accurately measure moisture levels and chloride content in samples of alternative materials we use in our kiln. 𝐹𝑙𝑎𝑠ℎ𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡 𝐴𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑒𝑟 (𝐿𝑎𝑏 𝐼𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑎): Training focused on determining the flash point of unknown materials, a critical safety parameter. 𝑉𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑟 (𝐵𝑖𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑠 𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐): Participants gained insights into measuring viscosity, an important factor in ensuring the optimal performance of materials fed into our kiln. 𝑆ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑀𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑒 (𝑀𝑎𝑥𝑖𝑛 𝐼𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑎): This equipment will assist in preparing samples of the appropriate size before conducting any tests. This training program represents another significant step by Vicat India in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. By equipping our teams with the skills to operate these advanced tools, we are enhancing our capability to effectively evaluate and utilize alternative materials in our processes, thereby contributing to our sustainability goals. We are pleased to share the successful completion of the training sessions on "Understanding the Mitigation Measures for TSR % Ramp Up," conducted by our esteemed AFR Consultant, Mr. Milind Murumkar. The sessions were held at the Kadapa plant on 20th May and the Kalburgi plant on 22nd May. Employees from various functions, such as QC, Process, Production, AFR, Environment, and Safety, attended the sessions, ensuring a comprehensive cross-sectional representation from both plants. The total number of participants was 42 (21 from each plant). The training sessions were highly interactive, fostering active participation and engagement from all attendees. There were Discussions on: ·       Trade-offs between AFR and clinker production and their impacts on quality, process equipment, and operations. ·       Measures to mitigate negative impacts of increased AFR usage. ·       Quality-related impacts of AFR, including its effect on chemical elements, burning conditions, and clinker variability. ·       Strategies for sustaining higher AFR utilization to achieve the organization’s target of +40% TSR by 2030. ·       Key success factors in the waste business and transitioning from a buying & selling model to a customer-centric approach. The CMO and Plant Head, and participants expressed keen interest in the detailed discussions on AFR intricacies. The enthusiasm and proactive participation were well appreciated, indicating a strong commitment to achieving our ambitious TSR targets.
