In rural areas lies immense potential of our youth, waiting to be unlocked, as we strive for inclusive and economic growth of communities in these areas. Capacity building, employability enabling, or linked skilling helps our youth to get opportunities, thereby cultivating a self-reliant workforce for our country.   To enable youth for better opportunities, PI Foundation's Skill Development Centre in District Bharuch, Gujarat focuses on vocational skill development through well-structured training programs and courses like electrician, BPO, BFSI, chemical operations, quality assurance. This center caters to youth of nearby 100 villages.   More than 4300 young people have been skilled so far. Majority of them have taken up jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities. Cotton is one of the most important cash crops of India and the lives of an estimated 60 million people directly depend on cotton production. Some Government reports suggest, pink bollworm – a dreaded pest of transgenic cotton, has impacted >65% of cotton yield in multiple states, subsequently impacting income of about 10 million rural households in India. To combat this and improve productivity, a novel, easy to use, affordable and environment-friendly technology is implemented by PI Foundation in partnership with SABC in its “Bandhan” initiative. Collaborations with various stakeholders such as KVKs, state agricultural authorities and universities have been very fruitful in enhancing cotton yield and income through customised capacity building and demonstration of innovative technology called PBKnot. This initiative is implemented across 10 districts in 4 states; Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Overall, 30,470 farmers with 2320 acres land coverage have been impacted.
