The start-up nation's entrepreneurial spirit has not wavered. Due to the events in Israel, I've been getting many questions from Founders & CEOs about fundraising and building partnerships in the US. Having worked there for 12 years, summarizing the key points from the conversations here: 1. As the United States is more isolated than Europe, Americans are less exposed to war and global issues, which can make them more sensitive to them. It’s important to address this head-on and explain what life is like in Israel and the real impact. Although your U.S. counterparts may be polite, they will most likely be concerned about it. 2. U.S. companies are known to sign deals faster than other regions such as in APAC or EMEA. For this reason, it’s important to respond quickly to messages, with accurate information, and to be prepared. Structure the deal quickly and carefully – this is in contrast to a place like China, where you might work on the relationship for many months and start business proceedings. In the U.S., the business takes precedent over the relationship i.e. the merits of the deal. 3. I’ve seen Israelis assume that they are similar in professional style to Americans, but this is typically not the case. Israelis can be perceived as casual, direct, and sometimes arrogant; and we need to be aware of that. It can help if you’re able to work with someone who has experience in both worlds and can navigate cultures. 4. To sign a large deal or partnership, traveling to the U.S. is typically required. Being there to shake hands is very important, and most investors will not agree to a deal without multiple physical meetings to create both a personal and professional relationship. I read today an article (https://lnkd.in/d_YRry27) in Calcalist כלכליסט, an Israeli business journal, addressing a troubling issue: the persistent challenges in integrating women into leading managerial roles. The article draws from Deliotte Haskins & Sells’s recent paper, revealing that female representation in leading companies remains alarmingly low, hovering around 25%. In an age of equality and progress, one would hope for more significant strides after years of discussion and legislation on this topic. How do we dismantle this glass ceiling? Past laws seemed promising, but it's evident that greater regulatory efforts are needed. Ensuring higher equality in publicly traded companies should be a priority, supported by investors who recognize the value of diverse leadership. Let's be clear: advocating for women in managerial roles isn't about tokenism. It's about recognizing talent and experience, regardless of gender. My limited personal experience has shown me that fostering diverse leadership, with more than 50% women managers, can be challenging to built, yet it proves to be crucial for the organization's success. This is a principle that I am committed to in any company I am involved with. Unfortunately, outdated perceptions persist, often favoring male CEOs over their equally qualified female counterparts. I firmly believe that diversity drives success in organizations. It's not just a matter of doing what's right; it's essential for growth and prosperity. According to the article, if we fail to act decisively, we could be waiting another 90 years to achieve gender equality in Israel.

Israeli Startup Raised $20 Million to Expand Precision-Spray Tech Greeneye Technology, an Israel-based precision agriculture tech company, raised $20 million. Deep Insight, an Israeli investment company, led the round with participation from existing investors Syngenta Group Ventures, JVP, Orbia Ventures, and Mellanox. Farmers increasingly face challenges with spraying chemical herbicides via conventional broadcast. Greeneye’s technology can detect and spray only those areas with weeds, rather than hitting crops or bare ground. Greeneye will use the funding to scale up its operations in the USA and introduce new features and capabilities to its system. “A big concern today for farmers is, they’re running out of tools to manage the weeds on the farm because of resistance,” explains Greeneye CEO Nadav Bocher. “Farmers are getting excited about this technology not only because of the savings but also because of the options it opens as far as weed control”.
