"Six years ago, we were privileged to affix the name of Ted and Hedy Orden z"l to Unistream's annual "Entrepreneur of the Year" Competition. Ted and Hedy Orden epitomized the spirit and mission of Unistream. As Holocaust survivors from Romania who immigrated to the United States in 1959, their determination, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit, led them to become the largest independent owners and operators of service stations on the West Coast. In addition to their success in the private sector, the Ordens were deeply committed to strengthening their local community and Israel through involvement in organizations such as The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, AIPAC, and more. Ted also served on the committee for the renovation of the Statue of Liberty for the American Bi-Centennial. Ted and Hedy left a legacy that lives on in their three daughters and their spouses, their grandchildren, and their great-children and that is now being imparted to all of Unistream's participants Unistream is honored by the active involvement of the entire Orden family and are grateful for their abiding partnership in changing the lifelong trajectories of youth from across Israel's social and geographic periphery. Together, we are developing the next generation of socially concious Israeli entrepreneurs who will shape the future of their communities and Israel.

Our End-of-Year Vibes ⚡ Last week, the Semi-Finals event of the NFTE program took place, where 8 groups from different schools arrived at the offices of the Marvell Technology company in Yokneam to present their entrepreneurial ventures. Each group had their own booth, and their ventures were visited by many prominent members from the Unistream business community. In each presentation room the groups made a 5-minute pitch of their venture, followed by a round of questions and answers from the visiting judges. The judges then proceeded on to see the ventures the other groups had created. Among the 8 groups presenting, three were selected as being especially innovative, and they, as well as two additional groups, will also present their ventures at the Entrepreneur of the Year Competition Grand Finale that will take place on July 16th at the Tel Aviv Expo convention center. The three winners of the NFTE Semi-Finals competition were from: 🥇 Atid High School in Peki’in 🥇  Amal Technological School in Nazareth 🥇  Or HaAtid School in Gan Yavne NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) is an international entrepreneurial education program for youth at risk that operates in 30 countries throughout the world, and in Israel it is managed by Unistream. The youth in the NFTE program have typically not succeeded in traditional educational settings, are in great danger of dropping out of school or otherwise receding to the margins of society. The NFTE program offers them an exciting environment within which to channel their creativity, and a chance to progress on to the international NFTE competition that is held in the United States in November. Special thanks to Marvell Technology for hosting this moving event, to the Amal and Atid educational networks who sent teens to the competition, to the distinguished judges, presenters, and guests, to Unistream’s own Dor Ya’acov and entrepreneur Maher Kabaha – entrepreneur and founder of EcoSystem Innovation and Technology – and, of course, to the amazing instructors and teens Ifat Bechor Rony Zarom

  One investment panel is behind us, and one last one for this year is ahead of us! After the successful panel (including particularly warm hospitality) at the Meta Israel offices on Monday, in just a few hours, five more groups of second-year participants from the EdVenture program will gather at the Goldfarb Gross Seligman offices in Tel Aviv to present their innovative ventures to a distinguished and diverse investors. Among the groups presenting is a wonderful group of participants from the Unistream Entrepreneurship Center in Kfar Chabad, who will be the first participants in the center's history to present their venture at the Unistream investment panel. Just before this exciting and historic event takes place, we are proud to introduce the amazing team of executives who will be attending today to observe and invest in the groups. Our second-year participants are already in high excitement for their very first investment panel, where they will present their ventures in English for the first time to a highly esteemed panel of senior executives who will actually invest in their ventures! Moments before the event starts, we are proud to present the judging panel for the first of two panels this week, which will take place today at the Meta offices in Tel Aviv. There are meetings that leave us deeply moved and render us speechless.  This was the case in a recent meeting between representatives of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and Unistream teens who had been evacuated from Kiryat Shmona, along with graduates from Netivot 🥹 It was very touching to see how the teens from Kiryat Shmona, who have been away from their homes for so long, presented themselves in such a mature fashion, eloquently describing their experiences in English to the visitors during a lovely dinner. Likewise, the graduates from Netivot touched everyone’s heart as they recalled all that they had been through during this exceptionally difficult time. There are mentors, and then there is Koby Pode – CEO of Polyron, who manages to find time among his many obligations and hobbies to volunteer to work with our teens. Pode, for those wondering, is married, has five children, and no fewer than nine grandchildren. He is a member of Kibbutz Zikim (where Polyron is based), where he specializes in marketing and innovation (in which he has a master’s degree). Among his hobbies are diving, cycling and photography. 👉 Tell us how you came to be a Unistream mentor. Over the past decade I have been involved in many initiatives that work with youth, first working with young people at ELEM-Youth in Distress, and later recruiting and hiring at-risk youth to work at Polyron, while at the same time encouraging innovative thinking and entrepreneurship both in Zikim and at the Unistream Netivot Center. 👉 What is the biggest challenge of being a business mentor for young entrepreneurs? To spark curiosity and encourage perseverance among the young people. 👉 What would you say is the most satisfying part of being a mentor? Watching the teens pursue their ideas and realize their dreams. 👉 What advice would you give entrepreneurs just starting out? To dream, to explore, and to carry on…and not to give up on us adults. 👉 Before wrapping up, do you have a recommendation for a movie, book, or other activity that you enjoy in your spare time?
