How can you create an engaging induction program for new hospitality staff?
Having just designed and written the Induction document for a hotel just a few of months ago, this is very much fresh in my mind. We are all worried about team "churn" in our industry. This is therefore the first step to ensure that we retain team members for longer. They WILL stay longer if we invest time in training them. People go where they feel wanted and flee where they are treated like robots. Induction is our best opportunity to bring our new team members in to the family and show them how we expect them to react in our work environment. In simple words, we give them as much information on how we do things in the workplace that we call home. So, make them stay for years as productive (& profitable) employees. Invest the time!

Lux Mundi is in theory a Catholic organisation, but is actually a cross denominational organisation that helps the poor and handicapped in the city. Nobody there gets paid for anything and all the monies raised are used to pay their bills and offer services to anybody in need, regardless of their beliefs.

I participated weekly, often performing heavy work, as there were lots of ladies and fewer (older!) men. I helped in repairing a kitchen, re-classifying the library and with their jumble sales. It wasn´t too far from my place of work and they needed assistance.
I got far more than I gave. Lovely people to be around. -
