Yesterday morning, Morgan McKinley hosted an event with the Bank of England in our London offices. We had the opportunity to hear from Rob Elder from the Bank of England, he provided an exclusive insight into the Bank’s forecast for the country’s economic outlook based on the MPC meetings in May and June and fielded questions from the floor. This was a great opportunity to speak directly with one of the people who is personally responsible for producing the monetary policy reports as well as having the opportunity to share thoughts and views with an appropriate local peer group. Key highlights: - The Bank of England is making very good progress in returning inflation to the 2% target sustainably - It is likely that they will have to cut the bank rate over the coming quarters and years - Hoping that the rate will be 4.75% by the end of this year and to around 4% by the end of 2025 - This will depend on incoming data, such as wage growth and unemployment and their assessment of the persistence of inflation - The next Money Policy Committee meeting is on the 1st of August and the one following that is the 19th of September - GDP growth for 2024 is predicted to be around 0.5%, and then doubling to 1% next year - It is too early to say what impact the new government will have on UK economic prospects #GoBeyond #MorganMcKinley #BankofEngland

foodpanda, a leading food delivery platform in Southeast Asia, aimed to expand into FinTech by launching a wallet into their app. This expansion required a significant augmentation of their Talent Acquisition (TA) function, to source highly technical roles across Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Our expert team worked closely with foodpanda to map an appropriate solution and began by parachuting a dedicated team of on-site recruiters, plus a TA coordinator, across all three locations.
