The core activity of the company is to create as many green roofs as possible, of the biggest size possible, in as many countries as possible. The market demand for green roofs and the special concepts of our partners are met by a range of 120 products of own development and, currently, 180 standard ones. The company vision of “a city filled with gardens” is the perfect expression of the owners’ thinking and approach, and their staff and partners are working steadily on implementing that concept. We are convinced that good intentions are not enough: you have to act to make the environment friendlier, healthier and greener. We contribute to our partners’ efforts to create a green environment by offering individual products and custom-tailored services. In addition to the green roof line, DiaSafe®, our safety technology product range to protect people working at heights, consisting of individual and collective fall protection systems and their combinations has also developed into an important area at the company. Our vision is enhanced by the brand name DIADEM®: green roofs created on the rooftop of buildings, i.e. liveable parks and green islands in the grey and lifeless urban environment, look like beautiful headbands adorning someone’s head. The diadem is a jewel in a woman’s hair; DIADEM® is the green jewel adorning the roofs in cities.

Combining a green roof with this type of view is a winning combination! 🌿🌊 Located on a rocky slope in Syros, the Viglostasi residence, designed by block722, makes excellent use of its environment with its tiered structure and expansive views of the Aegean Sea. 🏡 A green roof, constructed by Rossolatos, uses a DIADEM-350 semi-intensive green roof system, equipped with the diadrain-40H drainage network. This system is designed to hold a large amount of water, which is then slowly released to the plants, ensuring they receive adequate moisture even during the hot, dry Mediterranean summers. 💧 The residence unfolds across various levels, thoughtfully adapted to the steep terrain, ensuring every space enjoys unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea. 🌅 The green roof on Viglostasi enhances the residence's visual appeal and environmental benefits such as improved air quality and temperature regulation, making the building more comfortable and energy-efficient. This project shows how integrating green technology with architecture can add value to a property while supporting sustainable development. A green roof integration into the Viglostasi residence reflects a commitment to sustainability and modern design. The project contributes to a healthier environment and offers a practical example of eco-friendly living. 🍃🏠 Green up the roof, the cities, the world! 🌍💚 ____ 🌿 ROSSOLATOS 📍 Syros, Greece 📸 Ana Santl, George Pappas

Building Green: Why Common Houseleek is Perfect for Your Roof! 👇 Sempervivum tectorum, commonly known as the Common Houseleek, is a species of flowering plant in the Crassulaceae family. 🌸 Native to the mountains of southern Europe, it has been cultivated throughout Europe for its attractive appearance and a Roman tradition that claims it protects buildings against lightning strikes. 🌩️ This plant has been known to humans for thousands of years and has acquired many common names, including Devil's Beard, Thor's Beard, and St. Patrick's Cabbage. 🧔 Growing to about 15 to 30 cm in height and spreading up to 50 cm, the Common Houseleek forms dense rosettes of evergreen succulent leaves. These leaves are typically grey-green and tufted, often suffused with rose-red at the tips. During summer, the plant produces clusters of reddish-purple flowers on hairy, erect stems, which can add a splash of color to any green roof. 🌿 Sempervivum tectorum is highly variable, partly because hundreds of cultivars have been propagated, sold, and traded for nearly 200 years. This variability makes it a versatile choice for green roofs, capable of adapting to different environments and aesthetic preferences. 🌱 Its ability to thrive in poor, rocky soils and withstand both drought and cold temperatures makes it particularly suitable for rooftop gardens. ❄️☀️ Incorporating Common Houseleek into green roof designs enhances the visual appeal and urban spaces' biodiversity while benefiting from the plant's hardiness and minimal maintenance needs. The Aesthetic Benefits of Green Roofs 🌿 Green roofs significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of urban environments. By transforming dull, gray rooftops into vibrant, living landscapes, green roofs create visually pleasing spaces that can be enjoyed by residents and passersby alike. 🌱 Color and Variety 🌸 Green roofs introduce a wide range of colors and textures to cityscapes, from lush green grasses and sedums to brightly colored wildflowers and herbs. This variety not only makes rooftops more attractive but also changes with the seasons, providing a dynamic, ever-evolving visual experience. Urban Green Spaces 🌳 In densely populated areas, green roofs offer much-needed green spaces, breaking up the monotony of concrete and steel. These areas can be designed as gardens, recreational spaces, or quiet retreats, providing a breath of fresh air in the urban jungle. Improved Views 🏙️ For buildings with multiple stories, green roofs improve the view for occupants looking down on the city. Instead of looking out onto bare rooftops, they see a beautiful, landscaped area that enhances their overall experience of the space. Community and Well-Being 😊 They can be designed to include walkways, seating areas, and communal gardens, fostering a sense of community and providing a place for relaxation and social interaction. This connection to nature and community can significantly improve mental well-being and quality of life for urban residents. Architectural Harmony 🏡 Green roofs can be seamlessly integrated into the architectural design of buildings, enhancing their overall aesthetic and making them stand out as innovative and environmentally conscious structures. They offer a unique way to blend natural elements with modern architecture. Green roofs offer a multitude of aesthetic benefits that enhance urban living, creating beautiful, functional spaces that bring nature back into the city. 🌿 Green up the roofs, the cities, the world! 🌎💚 ____ Graphisoft Park 📸 Bujnovszky Tamás ____ #greenroofs #urbanarchitecture #sustainability #aesthetics

140% - that's the increase in winter energy needs when the soil depth of a green roof is reduced from 1.0 m to 0.1 m. 👇 This striking figure highlights green roofs' significant impact on a building's energy efficiency, especially in Mediterranean climates. 🌡️ The depth of soil and the type of vegetation used on green roofs are critical factors in determining their effectiveness. In winter, deeper soil acts as an insulator, reducing the need for additional heating. Shallow soil depths can lead to a dramatic 140% increase in heating energy needs. ❄️ But it's not just about staying warm in winter. Green roofs also contribute to cooling buildings in the summer. The cooling effect largely depends on the Leaf Area Index (LAI), which measures the density of the plant canopy. A low LAI can increase cooling energy needs by up to 365%, underscoring the importance of selecting the right vegetation. Dense, leafy plants enhance evapotranspiration and provide shade, significantly reducing the energy required to cool a building. 🌞🌳 Annual energy use is another critical metric affected by green roofs. The study found that soil depth could cause fluctuations in energy use up to 115% over the year. This highlights the importance of careful planning and design in maximizing the energy efficiency benefits of green roofs. 📉 In summary, the study demonstrates green roofs' impact on energy efficiency. Investing in well-designed green roofs is both an aesthetic choice and a strategic decision for energy conservation and environmental sustainability. Seville's tallest symbol of sustainability 👏👇 In the heart of Cartuja Island stands one of Seville's most iconic structures, the Seville Tower, also known as Torre Pelli. 🏙️ Designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli, this skyscraper is the first of its kind in Seville, soaring over 180 meters high. The tower’s sleek design, primarily made of concrete and glass, evokes the image of a torch illuminated at night, creating a striking presence in the city’s skyline. 🌟 Two buildings interconnect an intensive green roof. This green roof serves as a vital component for thermal insulation, demonstrating a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. 🌿 The green spaces atop these buildings form a typical "Sevillian street" in the center, flanked by two plazas at either end, providing a sense of community and open space. 🏞️ The green roofs extend over two podiums, accessible via a constructed pathway. This pathway, designed using our DIADEM® system with BW concrete blocks, ensures quick water drainage and prevents erosion damage on the surface. The BW concrete edging elements hold the gravel strips in place, providing stability without the need for mechanical fixation on the roof structure. 🚶♂️ One of the unique features of this green roof is its inverted, twisted slope, ranging from 0° to more than 20° in certain areas. To manage erosion effectively, the design incorporates both organic confinement systems. This innovative approach ensures that the green roof remains resilient and sustainable. 🌱 The entire project spans approximately 14,000 square meters, a harmonious integration of urban architecture and green spaces. The green roofs also support local biodiversity, improve air quality, and manage stormwater effectively. Torre Pelli was built to meet strict environmental standards, achieving the prestigious LEED Platinum certification from the Green Building Council of the United States. This certification underscores the building’s commitment to sustainable practices and its role in promoting urban greening. 🌟 Green up the roofs, the cities, the world! 🌍 💚 _____ Project: Torre Seville 📸 © Jeff Goldberg/ESTO- Pelli Clarke & Partners, Projar Group, JOSÉ ÁNGEL GARCÍA _____ #greenroofs #spain #seville #sustainability #urbanarchitecture
