Keeping Families Close
About us
Ronald McDonald House is the cornerstone project of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong. Asia’s first Ronald McDonald House was built in Hong Kong in 1996. The House offers a temporary residence or what we often called “a home away from home” for families with seriously ill children receiving medical treatment. The House provides comprehensive facilities including 23 family units, a common kitchen, library, study room, play area, communal dining area, an organic garden as well as a special-needs room suite specially for families and post bone marrow transplant child patients.

[A House filled with laughter] Volunteers from NWD hold a birthday party for our children at Kwun Tong House and member of the Love Companion Program recently, brining them joy and unforgettable memories. To give the best cheers to all the birthday stars of May, June and July, the volunteers specially selected low-sugar birthday cake and party delicacies, carefully matched birthday gifts suitable for different ages, and designed games to add a lively atmosphere to the House. Our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers of NWD and we look forward to welcome you soon again! [Innovation for Good] We’re honored to become the only benefiting NGO in the pilot charity project powered by Coda Bridge. With this program, every “Love Companion” family (families who stayed in our House before) will receive an electronic meal voucher of HK$500 (limited quota of 200 families) to dine at Dignity Kitchen, a top-notch social enterprise in HK with majority of their employees being physically challenged and disadvantaged. This pilot project leverages blockchain smart contract technology and a simple web-based Purpose Bound Money (PBM) platform to distribute and facilitate utilization of the vouchers. We look forward to more extensive technology applications to benefit the general public’s daily lives. Furthermore, we hope that more stakeholders will contribute to the charity project and enable more beneficiaries using their electronic voucher in a secure and reliable environment.
