Captain Antonio Jelcic became the first Croatian to summit both Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, and Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth highest mountain, within 48 hours...and the first Croatian ever to summit Mount Lhotse. These extraordinary accomplishments showcase his unwavering physical strength, endurance, and perseverance - all traits that seafarers must possess to succeed in their field. OOCL knows good things come in all shapes and sizes! Our India colleagues recently took up the unique challenges of loading breakbulk (BKK) cargo from Chennai to Port Klang - two train coaches in December 2023 and another in April 2024. The rarity of breakbulk projects like these showcase OOCL’s Take it Personally (TIP) Spirit, requiring close coordination with many stakeholders to ensure the timely arrival of cargo in sync with the vessel’s estimated time of arrival for loading. While planning started off smoothly, the December shipments encountered the significant obstacle of Cyclone “Michaung” that devastated the region and paralyzed Chennai. Despite power shutdowns and widespread flooding, our Operations team personally took up the challenge to ensure empty flat beds would be available in the terminal at the right time for stuffing upon shipment arrival. Please help us congratulate OOCL India and OOCL Logistics India for the successful operation of these shipments, and their dedication to handling oversized cargo with the special care and attention necessary.
