At KWM, we care about our community and value every opportunity to give back. We are proud of our Hong Kong June clerks who volunteered with Food Angel and our July clerks who joined Helping Hand on a visit to Chuk Yuen Housing for the Elderly. A Day with Food Angel Our team of dedicated June clerks and trainees came together with passion and enthusiasm during our recent pro bono event at Food Angel! Together, we prepared over 1700 meal boxes within 3 hours for those in need. It was inspiring to witness the power of teamwork and the commitment to giving back to the community. Food Angel provides nourishment and support to countless individuals who are facing food insecurity. Thank you to Food Angel for providing us with this wonderful opportunity to give back. We are grateful for their dedication to fighting hunger and their tireless efforts in making a positive difference in our community. If you'd like to learn more about Food Angel and how you can support their mission, please visit their website at https://lnkd.in/enafggt Visit to Chuk Yuen Housing for the Elderly Our July clerks and trainees had a wonderful experience during our recent visit to Chuk Yuen Housing with around 50 elderly residents, creating memorable moments. We organised a variety of engaging games that brought smiles to all our faces. Our volunteers distributed gifts and fruits, showing our respect and appreciation. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the members of Chuk Yuen Housing for their genuine care for the elderly. Thank you for the opportunity for our team to create beautiful memories with the residents and an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and cherished! In this article, Paul Starr, Felicity W.Y. Ng, Sian Knight and Olivia Jones set out the most significant amendments, with practical insights on what the 2024 Rules will mean for practitioners and arbitration users. https://ow.ly/j19550SwF1c

Since the decision in Edward Owen Engineering Ltd. v Barclays Bank International Ltd. and Another was handed down in 1978, practitioners and those in the construction industry have appreciated that an on-demand bond was payable immediately upon the presentation of a valid demand to the bondsman unless there was clear evidence of fraud. Read on as Paul Starr, Godfrey Yuen and Arthur Lui from our Hong Kong construction team summarise key takeaways from the two recent cases in Hong Kong, namely WKCDA v AIG and W v Contractor, and how these cases could signal a change in the Courts’ attitude, introducing additional hurdles and/or challenges to those hoping to obtain swift payment under on-demand bonds. Further details are provided. https://ow.ly/cEsF50SvI0q
