HKPPA holds the annual “Focus at the Frontline” Photo Competition, first held in 1993, is the largest news photo competition in Hong Kong. Entries are submitted by working photojournalists and go through a vigorous judging process. Through this competition, we hope to showcase images with news and artistic values and raise the recognition of the industry. As news documentary increasingly spreads from the medium of photo to video, it also holds the “Video at the Frontline” competition to showcase and honour the hard work of video journalists and documentary filmmakers in marking the key moments of the year.
