Bees are vital to healthy ecosystems, and HAECO is determined to create a buzz about saving the bees at our facility in North Carolina! As a beekeeper of seven years, Mark Shaver, our Planning Manager at HAECO Americas, takes great care in protecting native wildlife that preserve local biodiversity. With his expertise, swarms of bees were transported safely and humanely from our Greensboro facility to new homes. Thanks to Mark for helping us out of a sticky situation and for ensuring a safe habitat for human and bee to thrive. Beyond proudly adorning rainbow pins and ribbons to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community, HAECO was honoured to participate in a unique initiative that deepened our respect for diverse sexual orientations during Pride Month.   The Human Library, organised by Swire and PrideLab, enabled us to engage with individuals from diverse LGBTQ+ backgrounds, who were provided with a safe environment to share their personal stories and spark open dialogues around LGBTQ+ experiences and topics.   At HAECO, we believe in the power of diversity and inclusion and are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging and is valued for who they are. HAECO proudly charged to victory at the 23rd Hong Kong Dragon Boat Short Course Races last week, thanks to the impressive performance of our Kong Gei Dragons team! Formed by colleagues of different ethnicities, our dragon boat team showcased inclusivity and teamwork by landing three trophies in the men’s, mixed gender, and for the first time - the ladies division! 🏆🏆🏆 Congratulations to all the team members for their perseverance and relentless drive to succeed. Alyssa Pitter, a Structures Mechanic at HAECO Americas, likens her job to an aircraft surgeon. “We operate on an airplane, and that’s one of my favourite things about it,” she says, comparing the hangar floor to an operating room.   In charge of inspecting, modifying and repairing parts of the airframe structure, Alyssa admits it was the hands-on work that drew her to aircraft maintenance. As one who likes to “shoot for the stars”, she hopes to oversee the operations of her department one day.   Alyssa enjoys travelling and have plans to visit the UK this summer. Coming our way! Seven new robots and over 4,000 totes will be added to our materials management warehouse in Hong Kong as we launch the second phase of our robotic warehouse solution in the upcoming months. At HAECO, we’re committed to digital transformation to streamline our operations. The new robots will build on the success of phase one, enhancing the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of our materials handling with a maximum throughput of 170 totes per hour. This upgrade enables us to meet the material demands of our base maintenance and line maintenance teams continuously, even during peak times. Our robotic warehouse extension is part of a series of digital initiatives by HAECO aimed at lifting our operational performance and efficiency to new heights. Happy International Women in Engineering Day! At HAECO, we proudly support the growth of our female colleagues, like Chen Xiuhui, whose story is a true inspiration.                                                                                           Xiuhui joined HAECO Xiamen in 1996, following in her father’s footsteps. Starting on the frontline, her ambition and love for learning propelled her through over a decade of self-study and training to become an engineer.   Today, Xiuhui is the Lead Engineer in the Cabin Interior Cleaning Department under our base maintenance service. She oversees operations and manpower allocation, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable environment inside our customers’ aircraft by managing tasks like carpet changes and cleaning partition curtains and seat covers.   Xiuhui’s journey from the frontline to a leadership role showcases her relentless pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
