50 years on from Anglo-Eastern’s incorporation, the industry is a far cry from what it once was but with the cornerstones of safety and efficiency still holding strong. Amidst recent events, there has been a call for a return to a higher standard across the board. Governments and ports appear to be taking a stricter view against any non-compliance and as ship managers and owners we simply cannot afford to chance it. In our latest issue of Foresights, we are taking the opportunity to reminisce about the past while referencing the areas where we have evolved most greatly to deliver on our objectives and overarching goal of shaping a better maritime future. We were honoured to host a recent workshop on safety and security in shipping and offshore operations, organised by OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) and the DG Shipping (Directorate General of Shipping), at our Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre in Mumbai. The workshop provided a valuable platform for industry experts to come together and share knowledge on the latest best practices and innovations in these critical areas. Anglo-Eastern was grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with OCIMF and DG Shipping to facilitate this meaningful exchange. By fostering dialogue among maritime professionals, we are continuing to raise awareness on safety in shipping. #AngloEastern #ShapingABetterMaritimeFuture

ANAVI (Anglo-Eastern's CSR initiative) continues its 15th anniversary celebrations with renewed momentum across a variety of initiatives. Most recently, with the planting of over 600 trees at ISKCON Talashri farms, 100 km from our Mumbai office, the team kicked off the project by planting 5 mango trees. These saplings are already 8 feet tall and will mature into full, fruit-bearing trees in the coming years. This endeavour reflects our deep-rooted dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. As we look ahead, we will continue to build on the success of ANAVI's 15-year legacy, driving positive change in the communities we serve. #AngloEastern #ANAVI

Last week, Priyanka Gupta, HR director of Crew Management at Anglo-Eastern, joined fellow industry experts on a panel at SAFETY4SEA’s Crew Welfare Week 2024. The discussion focused on how ship managers should handle crew welfare and wellness by implementing comprehensive strategies and policies that promote a healthy work-life balance. Ms Gupta emphasised the importance of addressing mental health challenges, providing clear career progression guidelines, and ensuring equitable treatment on board to reduce interpersonal issues and complaints. Furthermore, she advocated for open platforms where seafarers can freely voice their concerns and prioritise upskilling in both technical and soft skills. The pressing need for better work-life balance was also firmly highlighted by Ms Gupta, as was the significance of digital inclusion and the fundamental importance of addressing fatigue to better facilitate the creation of a truly supportive onboard environment. Our COO, Carsten Brix Ostenfeldt, had the pleasure of visiting Ocean Albatros last week while navigating the waters of Svalbard, Norway. This passenger vessel is managed by Anglo-Eastern Cruise Management, with hotel services provided by Anglo-Eastern Leisure Management from Miami. Together with the charterer, Albatros Expeditions, the experience presented was an absolutely stellar one, with an outstanding expedition team and a top-notch crew providing an exquisite guest experience under the capable leadership of Captain Arsen Prostov. Of note was the sighting of many animal species including polar bears, walruses, seals, polar foxes, and a near endless supply of beautiful birds. This is definitely a trip that should be on the bucket list for anyone excited about wildlife and nature preservation. #AngloEastern

It is an honour to accept the Crew Welfare Tanker Operator Award 2024 from SAFETY4SEA, which recognises our commitment to the well-being and support of our tanker crews. At Anglo-Eastern, we firmly believe that seafarers are the backbone of our industry. Many of our shore-based staff and leaders have transitioned from shipboard roles so we deeply understand both the opportunities and challenges of life at sea. In response we have developed a human performance strategy that spans the entire talent development cycle from recruitment and training to welfare and advancement, which has contributed to a high retention rate of over 95%. This is also why we have developed over 60 specialised ‘We Care’ initiatives focused on addressing the full spectrum of crew welfare needs. From mental health support to enhanced connectivity, we strive to create an environment where our seafarers can thrive. We are grateful to our clients who share our belief in the value of comprehensive crew support, and of course, to our incredible seafarers for their tireless dedication. This award is a testament to your commitment, and it strengthens our resolve to continually raise the bar for crew welfare in our industry. Thank you to SAFETY4SEA and those who voted for us in recognition of our efforts. We are humbled and inspired to keep pushing forward. #AngloEastern #LeadingWithIntegrity #ShapingABetterMaritimeFuture

Today, on June 25th, we celebrate the Day of the Seafarer, a day established by a resolution adopted during the 2010 Diplomatic Conference in Manila. This day is dedicated to recognising the unique contributions made by seafarers from all around the globe to international seaborne trade, the world economy, and wider society. The efforts of seafarers often go unnoticed by the public, yet their contributions are indispensable and cannot be overlooked. Facing challenges such as piracy, conflict zones, being away from home, and unpredictable weather, seafarers' resilience and professionalism in dealing with unforeseen situations deserve our utmost respect and admiration. At Anglo-Eastern, ensuring their safety and building awareness for what they do remains a top priority. In recognition of this day, Vinay Singh, group managing director of Marine HR commended our crews for their "unwavering determination and strength which truly enhance our world". On behalf of Anglo-Eastern he also extended our best wishes to our seafarers "for the continued safe and successful voyage onboard our ships and in their respective careers". Alongside our support for this Day and our seafarers, we are supporting the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) campaign for top tips for safety at sea. To our seafarers: simply share a picture of yourselves in your working environment with your top tip for safety at sea alongside the hashtag #SafetyTipsAtSea. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/guEbqBit Thank you again for all that you do, today and every day. #AngloEastern #SafetyTipsAtSea
