Acclime, in collaboration with techUK and the Indonesian Embassy, hosted an enlightening event today at the @Indonesia embassy - 30 Great Peter Street, London. The event, part of techUK's APAC Working Group, aimed to shed light on Indonesia's tech ecosystem and its lucrative prospects for UK businesses.   Debby Davidson, our co-founder and COO, delivered an insightful presentation on "Setting Up a Local Presence," providing attendees with practical strategies and crucial knowledge for establishing a foothold in Indonesia. Her expertise, combined with valuable contributions from other distinguished speakers, Dr. Desra Percaya - Ambassador, Republic of Indonesia to the UK, Ireland, and the IMO, Sarah Wei Lau, Siti Tiefryani Fahlyah, and Matthew Borthwick who made this event a pivotal experience for all who attended.   As Indonesia positions itself as a leader in public cloud services and IT spending in the Asia-Pacific region, our event provided the perfect platform for UK tech companies to gain essential insights and network with key industry players.   A big thank you to the Indonesian embassy, who provided us with a beautiful venue and Daniel Clarke and Oliver Alderson from techUK who supported the event and everyone who joined us to learn more about the Indonesian market . In my next spotlight for the Workshop, we'll be delving into navigating Singapore's business ecosystem, facilitated by Acclime. Singapore serves as a gateway to major Asian markets, a region characterized by favorable demographics, a robust consumer base, rapid urbanization, digital transformation, and technological advancements. The potential for business growth in this region is immense, yet the prospect of expanding into a new market can be daunting. While complexities abound, strategic planning and partnering with a trusted local expert can transform these challenges into lucrative opportunities. Acclime 's workshop explores how companies can use Singapore as an entry point to Asia. Participants will discover why Singapore is an ideal hub for business expansion, thanks to its strategic location, robust infrastructure, skilled talent pool, and vibrant startup ecosystem. The workshop will cover the intricacies of various business structures in Singapore. Here's what I learned from Acclime's experts: 🌏 Choosing a strategic location for global expansion is key. Singapore, with its easy access to major markets in Southeast Asia (SEA), strong infrastructure and connectivity, well educated and skilled talent pool, liveability and robust startup ecosystem makes it easy to scaleup from the city-state to the rest of SEA 📄 Setup for success: Understanding the incorporation criteria is important for setting up. For example, settting up in Singapore requires a local/resident director, a company secretary, at least 1 shareholder, a local registered office address, corporate bank account and minimum paid up capital of S$1. Knowing the pros and cons of the different business structures, such as a private limited company, foreign branch office and rep office, can also help you optimise your business setup. 👥 Tapping on talent: In expanding your team abroad, it's useful to tap on a talent hub that can cater to your needs. Singapore offers a wide array of hiring passes and schemes, from the ONE Pass to Tech@SG, which are tailored to meet different hiring needs, and offer greater certainty and flexibility to employees. One great example of a company that used Singapore as a successful launchpad in SEA is Livspace - a marketplace for homeowners and home designers providing an end-to-end home design experience. Livspace offers an online marketplace for home interior solutions and software tools for designers to streamline their workflow. Livspace marked its entry into Singapore in 2019, where it enjoys a partnership with IKEA, providing interior design solutions. Livspace tapped Acclime's expertise to navigate its entry into the Singapore market. Acclime played an essential role, providing corp sec services and establishing a subsidiary in Singapore while helping Livspace expand to other SEA countries. Keen to learn more?
