    In addition to grow and shrink, you can also shrink and grow. Depending on the situation, you may want to shrink first, or grow first. Sometimes doing both can be helpful. Commented Nov 7, 2023 at 10:54
  • I used this technique to grow and then shrink by a little less, and finish with a feather to allow the edge to be a little soft, while still smoothing out the jagged edges. E.g. grow 100, shrink 95, feather 5.
