Legal Support For Undocumented Graduate Students

East Bay Community Law Center & USP

Through the East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC), the USP Legal Support Team provides general consultations and full legal representation on various immigration matters available to current UC Berkeley students and their family members.

Schedule a DACA Renewal appointment with EBCLC or a free consultation. As a UC Berkeley student, EBCLC will be able to support you with renewal fees!

Clients will be provided with legal information, a free general consultation to create a pathway to legal status, when possible, and in many cases, full legal representation regarding their immigration matters. In some cases, matters will be referred to other units at EBCLC. If EBCLC cannot take the case, the students and their family members may be referred to partner organizations in the Bay Area, or other parts of California, if necessary.

All consultations with any USP legal staff are strictly confidential and privileged and all information will be reviewed by licensed attorneys. Students should bring any pertinent immigration paperwork to the appointment so we can best serve them.

Recorded Webinars & Outside Community Resources

We’ve compiled some local community resources and agencies that can support undocumented students.

Path2Papers (P2P) is a new nonprofit venture housed at Cornell Law School that helps DACA recipients pursue work visas and other pathways to legal permanent residency. Experienced immigration attorneys are available to provide free legal consultations to DACA workers and their employers. P2P also connects nonprofits, colleges and universities, and government agencies who sponsor DACA workers with pro bono legal representation. You can read more about P2P’s Legal Team here. For more information about how DACA workers can benefit from work visas, read this helpful explainer by the National Immigration Forum. If you are a DACA worker or employ a DACA worker, email P2P’s Legal Team to set up a free individual consultation.
