What are the best practices for developing web applications using Jamstack architecture?
The main strength of the Jamstack is its performant pre-rendered HTML pages that eliminate server load issues. However, there are plenty of slow-running Jamstack sites. This is due to not using web standards while implementing the front end. Think about image loading with lazy, responsive image tags, prefetching fonts, loading as few third-party scripts (analytics, Facebook pixel, etc) as possible, and many more essential things that slow webpages down. Use a meta framework tool like Astro, Remix, NuxtJS, or Next.js. These have built-in features for code-splitting, lazy loading components, and preloading font files. Lastly, ensure the Jamstack site runs on a CDN edge with high performance like Netlfy, Vercel, or Cloudflare.

What are the best practices for developing web applications using Jamstack architecture?
Jamstack has had many definition iterations over the years, but in the end, it comes down to the fact that you render the pages of your website in the build step to serve them from a CDN as static files. This has the benefit of performance and a lower attack surface for hackers, as there are no connections to API endpoints at runtime. A few meta frameworks have specialized in the Jamstack, notably Next.js, Gatsby, and NuxtJS. They added features like JavaScript hydration on page load to make the site an SPA after the first load. Tooling for Jamstack is associated with headless SaaS like CMS, PIM, DAM, and commerce engines. However, Jamstack projects can be based on legacy architectures if the front-end and back-end are separated.
