UNIVERSEH is an alliance of seven young and mature universities, from seven European countries: 🇫🇷 France: Université de Toulouse 🇵🇱 Poland: AGH University of Technology 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Université du Luxembourg 🇸🇪 Sweden: Luleå University of Technology 🇩🇪 Germany: Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf 🇮🇹 Italia : Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata 🇧🇪 Belgium : Université de Namur These universities were selected to conduct a new way of collaboration in a unique field, Space, within the new “European Universities” initiative promoted by the European Commission. We believe that we need to create new higher education interactive experiences for the university community, teachers and students, and the society as a whole. Together, broadminded, informed and conscientious European citizens will be made capable of capturing and even creating new knowledge and becoming smart actors of European innovation, valorisation and societal dissemination within the Space sector, from science, engineering, liberal arts to culture. All partners are committed to secure new approaches for Teaching & Learning in an evolving world where knowledge and its transmission have never been so difficult to streamline to learners. Student-centred learning, peer-to-peer and collaborative teaching designs will be the cornerstone of our new educational endeavour, comprising in-person, distance and blended learning with UNIVERSEH collaborative campus, including students’, teachers’ and researchers’ thematic and cultural European mobility. Innovative pedagogical approaches, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral curricula are key components of our educational approach. UNIVERSEH is uniquely capable to foster its wide range of expertise and already acquired extensive contacts with the space industry and European Space Institutes to rapidly adapt and propose the most relevant Teaching & Learning environment to cover European needs in the Space domain.

🌍 Balancing Exploration and Impact: Key discussions in Toulouse ➡️ On May 27, and in line with our commitment to sustainable space activities, UNIVERSEH European University and UNIVERSEH Students Toulouse co-organized this exchange with Pour un réveil écologique in ISAE-SUPAERO. 🛰️ Space activities offer numerous benefits, from Earth observation for climate change understanding to researching the origins of the universe and providing global positioning systems. However, some applications, such as space tourism and mega-constellations, have limited societal value. 🌠 It is crucial to evaluate the societal utility of each space project against its impacts, especially as the sector grows and liberalizes. The January 2024 report by Pour un réveil écologique (PRÉ) provides the first public synthesis of these issues, targeting students and young graduates who are eager to align their career choices with their values. This report highlights the current state and impacts of the space sector, urging a reevaluation of its contributions to society. In line with our commitment to sustainable space activities, UNIVERSEH European University and UNIVERSEH Students Toulouse co-organized this exchange with the PRÉ collective. 🥼 The report presentation was followed by discussions with industry experts, focusing on actions to mitigate the space sector's impact and addressing remaining uncertainties. 🔸 Marlène de BANK, Research Engineer at The Shift Project, President of AÉRO DÉCARBO; 🔸 Alexandre Tisserant, CEO of Kinéis; 🔸 Stéphanie Lizy-Destrez, Lecturer at ISAE-SUPAERO; 🔸 Sophie Vilarem, Environmental Expert at CNES. 🔹 The roundtable was moderated by Prunelle Vogler and Julien Doche, co-authors of the Pour un réveil écologique space report. #UNIVERSEH #SpaceSector #SustainableSpace

Workshop – Technical Standardization in Space and Sustainability 📢 On the one hand, some of space activities are considered as means to efficiently address climate change (notably with Earth observation tools), but on the other hand, they can also be considered as a source of pollution for terrestrial and space environments, caused by space debris, for instance. Moreover, currently space is opening its doors to an increasing number of private entities, generating the need for a common understanding and good practices to enable safe and harmonized operations, especially when these could yield an impact on the environment and on the feasibility of space activities. Yet, as of today, standardized requirements related to sustainability in space are needed. 📅 Date: July 2, 2024 ⏰ Time: 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. 📍 Location: ILNAS (8th floor) - Southlane Tower 1 - 1,avenue du Swing - L-4367 Belvaux ✅ Register now: https://lnkd.in/eGjvRZAq Looking forward to exchange with you! #standardization #space #luxembourg ILNAS & ANEC Normalisation Luxembourg Luxembourg Space Agency University of Luxembourg European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC)

🚀 Space Week AGH University of Krakow is over! What an intense and exciting time it was. From May 17th to 24th, 2024, the Space Week took place at the AGH University of Krakow. It was organized by the Space Technology Centre and a truly fruitful time packed with meetings, lectures, workshops, and even space-themed games. 🌟 We kicked off Space Week with a “Cosmeeting” at a primary school, where the SpaceTeam AGH scientific club brought the space knowledge to the youngest. 🏛️ At AGH, local authorities and space sector stakeholders from the region joined space industry experts for a discussion on ‘Space Opportunities: Development of the Space Sector in the Perspective of Krakow and Malopolska’. 🎓 Students engaged in the ‘Pitching Your Research to Diverse Audiences’ workshop, enhancing their skills to present research effectively during poster sessions. 🌍 Space Day was a massive hit, with almost 500 high school students visiting AGH to learn about UNIVERSEH and space scientific clubs. The auditorium was literally bursting at the seams! 🎲 We added a fun twist by introducing space-themed board games and VR experiences. We also screened the film ‘Proxima’, which portrays the life of a female astronaut balancing her career and motherhood. Dr. Agata Kolodziejczyk’s introductory lecture enriched our understanding of female astronauts’ lives. 📚 Space Week culminated in the Space Resources Conference, featuring talks by space experts from around the world. Over 100 researchers presented their findings during oral and poster sessions. #SpaceWeekAGH #SpaceExploration #AGHUniversity #SpaceTechnologyCentre #UNIVERSEH
