It was great to reconnect with Centrale Nantes professors and alumni at the 21st European Conference on Composite Materials in Nantes last week! An event that brought together the most advanced research in composites (1300 people including 500 PhDs).   A lot of interest in Nova Carbon's vision of performance-based carbon fibre recycling.   Thanks to my former professor and co-chair of this event, Christophe Binetruy, for the invitation!   Happy to see again Centrale Nantes professors and alumni : Pr. Sebastien Comas-Cardona, Dr.-Ing. Theodosia Kourkoutsaki (now working at ITA), Mathieu Imbert (now working at Fraunhofer), Awen Bruneau (PhD from Centrale Nantes).   And all the others! Rebecca Emmerich, Quentin Govignon, Pierre Gérard..    Nova Carbon is at the forefront of composite research and is proud to work with several high level academic partners.

Après 13 ans de R&D au sein de l’Université de Bordeaux, Nova Carbon vient de lever 1,4 million d’euros pour sortir du laboratoire sa technique de recyclage de la fibre de #carbone. L’entreprise dirigée par Hugo Cartron ambitionne d'aboutir à un premier semi-produit en fibre de carbone recyclée d’ici 18 mois. Cette matière dont la demande est croissante dans divers secteurs (#aéronautique, #automobile, #construction, #sport…) est aujourd’hui très peu recyclée, engendrant jusqu'à 20.000 tonnes de déchets par en Europe.

🏢 Les fibres de carbone, dont l’utilisation progresse très fortement, sont pour l’heure peu et mal recyclées. Au regard des coûts - énergétique et CO2 - induits par leur mise en œuvre initiale, Nova Carbon entend faire entrer de plain-pied ce matériau dans l’économie circulaire. [Press Release] Nova Carbon has successfully completed its first fundraising round of €1.4M with exceptional partners! 💥 This crucial milestone will allow us to accelerate the development of our patented technology for carbon fiber unweaving and realignment, developed from over 10 years of research at the University of Bordeaux. 🎯 Objectives for the next 18 months: - Transition from lab scale to pre-industrial scale. - Develop the first high-performance Nova Carbon® semi-finished product made from recycled carbon fiber. - Expand our technical team with new, ambitious talents.
