I have two mac's on the same network, a 2018 Mac Mini desktop & an M1 MacBook Air (2020?)

When I am on the Mini, and I try to mount the Macbook on the Mini, for some reason it goes into screen sharing mode.

I am sure that's useful in some circumstances, but it is NOT what I want. All I want to do is mount the MacBook on the Mini, so I can copy & move files from one the other ... which is easier just with two mounted drives, NOT with screen sharing.

is there any way to achieve this?

(when I do it the other way around, mount the Mini on the MacBook Air desktop, it does so without a problem, but I want to also be able to mount the MacBook on the Mini.)

thanks for any feedback / suggestions!

Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing before trying to mount the computer from the network? There are two different buttons for "Connect As" and "Share Screen".

actually, I tried it using both the standard FINDER and also using PATHFINDER - and both are the same - when I mount the MacBook from the left hand column, it does NOT give me more than one option, it's screenshare or cancel - that's it - just to connect would be what I want. I will try to get a screenshot ....

Check to see if file sharing is enabled on the MacBook in System Settings > General > Sharing.
