17"Overpass" would be a common term in the US. (It's an "underpass" if the bottom road is routed through a ditch so that the top road remains mostly flat.)– Hot LicksCommented Mar 30, 2015 at 12:16

1Overpass in the US. Most of the time what's called an overpass in the US would be called a flyover in other regions. The two words are not completely equivalent- flyover is also used in the US, but to distinguish an overpass that more literally "flies over" another. I don't know if a structure as low as the one in your picture is called a flyover in, for example, the UK.– bobroCommented Mar 30, 2015 at 12:21

2@oerkelens A viaduct passes over a valley, river, etc. This structure elevates itself so another road can pass under it.– Tulains CórdovaCommented Mar 30, 2015 at 12:22

2In order to decide, go to Yahoo and search for overpass images, then for "elevated road" images, and see which set of images is closer to your idea.– Marius HancuCommented Mar 30, 2015 at 15:08

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- Review existing tags and read their descriptions to learn when they should be used.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. single-word-requests), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
