Clerk assistance is requested in the case below.

Suspected sockpuppets

In October 2023, Zviad Gamsakhurdia was subject to edit warring from User:Cutoc (see ANI). User:Silveresc was also involved in the edit war and in the related discussions. See discussions between these two accounts: Talk:Zviad_Gamsakhurdia#Gamsakhurdia's_alleged_chauvinism. It then appeared that these two accounts were socks of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ArsenalAtletico2017. They were banned on November 9.

The same pattern seems to repeat itself. On January 1st 2024, Zip18 removed the same content that Cutoc and Silveresc challenged before their ban: the paragraphs about Gamsakhurdia's policies towards minorities. I reverted Zip18. Zip18 started a discussion and complained about 'Russian bots and trolls'. I answered: 'Don't resort to personal attacks. I'm not a "Russian bot" or "troll".' Then, out of the blue, Fodrid (not previously involved in the discussion) joined the conversation and answered as if they were Zip18: "I did not call anyone specifically RUssian bot, I said this kind of debates attracts many Russian bots in general, and I don't want to feed the trolls which is against Wikipedia's rules." and then: "Don't think this is a personal attack.". Zip18 answered a few minutes later.

Fodrid's account was created on 14 November 2023, five days after Cutoc and Silveresc's ban. Fodrid mostly contribute on Georgia, its ethnic minorities, and the related conflict. Zip18's account was created in November 2022 but Zip18 started to be really active on 23 November 2023, mostly on the Georgian ethnic conflicts as well.

It's the first time I report accounts and I hope it won't backfire. I'm not sure the evidence is strong enough but given ArsenalAtletico2017's past, the behavior of these two accounts seems highly suspect to me. a455bcd9 (Antoine) (talk) 14:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is false allegations against me which are totally absurd. First of all, my account was created in November 2022, I checked everything right now and I found out that the acounts which I am accused on being sockpuppet of were banned in November 2023 after CheckUser investigation, this logically leads to conclusion that I also would have been banned after this check if I was a sockpuppet, but this did not happen, so it is obvious I am not a sockpuppet or anything. This proves that allegation is absurd and no check is required. Secondly, I am periodically active on Wikipedia, I created account in November 2022 and started editing in January 2023, then in June and so on. I was active on Wikipedia before January 2024 so the argument of this user is wrong. I am Georgian so most of my edits are about Georgia, but not only, see the example - this, or this and many other, which this user chose to ignore to cherrypick and provide false allegations. It is natural that most of my edits are about Georgia and related topics, since I am Georgian! otherwise, there is no connection at all. There is no evidence at all! IP investigations would have banned me in November 2023 if I was a sockpuppet, because my account was created in November 2022! And if I was a sockpuppet, I would have started my editing on the same page in November 2023, but I started only after three months because that's when I found that page! This user thinks anyone challenging him is a "sock puppet" which is an absurd. Moreover, I don't know about other user, but this user presented incorrect quote, the actual quote is: "I think he said I wanted to add information about Russia's involvement (which indeed happened and was attested by many sources) and I did not call anyone specifically RUssian bot, I said this kind of debates attracts many Russian bots in general, and I don't want to feed the trolls which is against Wikipedia's rules. Don't think this is a personal attack" (see here. I think all of this is enough evidence for not responding to this accusations, moreover, this user violated rules about opening such investigations and did not notify me about it, which is wrong too. This user is trying to revert my edits which added vast amount of text and reorganized the body of article, but he only presented arguments about some of my new addition but removed everything, this action is probably connected to this effort to frame me as "sockpuppet" with no evidence at all. - Zip18 (talk) 14:49, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I think there is a misunderstanding here about this investigation. First, the user a455bcd9 said that I appear "out of the bluet" but actually I was engaged in editing on that page and that's how found out about the discussion in page. So this is misinterpretation here. Second, I wrote the comment with many grammatic errors unfortunately, so that's where I think the confussion stems from, I think this is erronous and I am sorry for my bad English. Otherwise, I just agreed with Zip18 which I found agreeable, the other user on the same page Alaexis agreed with user a455bcd9 so should we also open investigation about them for being sockpuppet too? And while I agree that my account been created after 9 November, I think it is coincidence, and this is another misunderstanding. Otherwise, there is no connection, besides me adding Georgia-related topics, which happened because it looks like all users involved in this are Georgians themselves and there are not that many topics about Georgia on WIkipedia. Otherwise, please see my edit history that I have many edits about non-Georgia related topics too. So I don't think this is evidence enough to have an investigation about. — Fodrid (talk) 15:10, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
