    Possibly of interest, ‘errand’ used as a noun can also refer to an oral message to be delivered (and the Proto-Germanic root word it comes from has essentially this meaning, though I’m not sure if there’s a modern German cognate). Commented Mar 20, 2023 at 20:38

    In Northumberland and Tyneside they call them "messages" as well.
